Dun think it's a good idea... Bigger wheels = higher fuel consumption.

Re: 18" Rims for Cerato

Hi, for 17", should use same as stock. 215/45. Cannot change the profile too much, if not your speedometer will not be accurate.

Re: 18" Rims for Cerato
It depends ur driving 1.6 or 2.0. Not recommended for 1.6 litre with 18 inch wheel install due to reduce of Torgue and increase FC. 2.0 will be more suitable but there is disadvantages. Forte original camber setting is 1.5, when u install 18 inch, u gotta somehow think of a way to change the camber setting, but i noticed, rear camber is unable to do setting on camber. 18 inch is recommended for those who seldom use the car or just wanna make the whole car look nicer. 225/40/18 is the best tyre size for Forte, but of course need to avoid some lubang (holes). The thicker tyre u use, will end up more air (Quantity of air = weight when rolling). But im planning to ins 18/19 inch for my 2/0 forte. i wan it looks superb.

Advantages
1. Sporty n nice
2. Safety
3. Mileage reduced (not important)
Disadvantages
1. Higher FC
2. Lesser power
3. More expensive
4. Speedo meter will not be accurate due to wheel diameter increased
Singaporeans can fix with bigger wheel reason is road condition are good and dont have high way road.
Malaysian suggested not or depends on individual, road condition sucks and mostly highway will cause change tyre frequently. :DDDDDDD

Ano,
the Street Condition is too bad in our country, its damaged tyres and the suspinsion system, i think 17'' & 18" will damage the car.
am so disapointing and may change them to 15 " or 16" maximam

Re: 18" Rims for Cerato
Im afraid the petrol prices in SG will scare you...
For Octane 98 - Its now $1.930 SGD per litre
Which is $1.38 USD.
Welcome to Singapore, where Cars are expensive and Car maintenance are exorbitantly high!

Hahaha!! Yeah man!! Hahaha!! :-)
We would be jumping for joy if we could even get like $0.50 USD per litre!! :-)
But then again, if the prices here drop till $0.50 USD per litre, I will be very worried!! Hahahaha!! :-)
Something must be wrong....something big must be happening....maybe end of the world..... ?? :-)

Having been to Middle East before, I can safely say that water is more expensive than petrol there.

Cars are not expensive, as compared with Myanmar, or even Malaysia.......
Maintenance is actually quite reasonable.
Petrol prices, not the highest in the world.....

Re: 18" Rims for Cerato
many who have not travelled extensively would say that our cars are expensive, but few do actually know that imported cars in Malaysia are selling at a higher price.... in Myanmar, an old 20 year old Toyota station wagon is selling for US$20,000.

Re: 18" Rims for Cerato
Yeah I know. :-)
But you shouldnt use Msia as an example. Cos for many sporeans, they will not get it at first. Cos, to them, cars in msia is still cheaper cos most of them will do the exchange rate thing!! :-)
Like petrol is always cheap in msia cos after conversion, it IS cheaper than spore. :-)

Quite true too. Maintenance costs in Europe is much higher, well at least in France... We can get much cheaper servicing in Singapore and some spare parts are also cheaper, especially for Asian makes.

Re: 18" Rims for Cerato
Usage?? Not necessarily. Depends also on where you live and where you work. :-)
If you work far from home and travel a lot for work, then paying toll will be a killer. Can come up to more than RM$10 a day I am very sure. :-)
Parking depends. If you park in those open air makeshift carparks, then I think quite alrite. If I am not mistaken, about RM$5-8 for the whole day. But think if you go out and come back in again, have to pay same amount.
They also save on personal carpark. Meaning at night, at home, they dun need to pay for parking. :-)
Guess cos so many around, servicing of car could be cheaper too. :-)

Yeah!! :-)
Think we OT quite a bit!! Hahahaha!! :-)
So 18"......
Question.......if we change to 18" but change tyre to super low profile tyres, can keep the overall size the same?? If kept the same, will it be the same?? Or FC and all will change?? :-)

Re: 18" Rims for Cerato
think if the overall wheel circumference remains, torque and FC should be same too, but ride comfort and handling will different by aloooot.. personally i think our stock is very bumpy already if road surface not too good..
FriesL- Senior Member
Re: 18" Rims for Cerato
I agree bro. Especially driving in msia. :-)
But if in spore, should be ok with the super low profile tyres. :-)
Just asking cos some ppl wanna change to 18" rims cos wanna look nice. But then dun wanna compromise their torque and FC. So I could only think of that possibility.
Not sure if its really workable or not. Hahaha!! Cos I dunno about the sizes and all. :-)
