KIA Techinfo: Audio Software Update (SA024) (GEN 033)

I came across this Tech article and realise that sometime I do experience such problem as indicated in their reported techinfo..

Perhaps guys, you too should take a look and see if there is a need for our service center to upgrade the "software"

Yes...I somehow feel that rattle sound on my driver side speakers when playback song which already has bass

Anyway..the end-user audio firmware update through USB tumbdrive is cool. Tht's the 1st time I saw this for cars!!!

Hopes tht nextime can update ECU with USB also...

I find the steps to upload in our set is veli complicating , better keep my hand off , if not later the whole unit canot function.. lagi jialat

then wasting time in C&C to reset the set.

Think it means the bass too power liao, and that is a good thing... right? Maybe need those sound proof foam to damp the rattle then more shiok than having the firmware with weaker bass output.

I used my 1GB Sandisk drive to load the firmware. But cannot work. The display shows "Firmware Error". My Audio unit should be Gen1.5 as there is chrome at the knob.

My tumbdrive spec:
- Fat 16
- Empty volume.
- Loaded with GEN15Setup.exe roms.

U seriously went try it huh??? Do you managed to check what is the Firmware in ur car first? Later anyhow do, corrupted the system.. Don't blame me hor

maybe call SE see they know anot or tech centre for help

i just checked the display. It shows our firmware as 1.01EU
So i duno if this N.American one will work anot

anyway i was hoping it worked for me. So that the radio can "reset" and see if the screen can be revived

but sadly no... becos i can't really see what the numbers does as my screen just keep distorting...

no. he saying his center console is GEN1.5

wat i wanted to point out is.. the v1.0 presumbly no chrome ring and v1.5 with chrome ring is somehow not true. I have chrome ring on the knobs too but my displays shows v1.0EU

thats why i wanna confirm if he see v1.5 from screen or just base on the tech info...

So anyone upgraded the v1.0 firmware successfully?

Off radio, press and hold 1 and 4 together for 3seconds
let go and immediately press 1, 1, 1, 1

the software version will appear

guys, i am not sure what rattle sound Kia is referring to, but my original tweeters on my gen 1.5 system has a clicking sound at a certain low freq. i just turn down the bass to prevent this.
i am not sure is this the problem they are referring to, i am not a ice expert but i have a feeling something is missing in the setup and they are trying to compensate by altering the processor.

Tweeter click when there is a low freq??

Tweeters are supposed to be cut @ a mid range... how would that be possible then??
