Air Cond Settings...
Hi Guyz...
Juz wanted to make a comparison...
Coz during the last meet up, noticed my AC may have some problems...
Suspect that my AC compressor may have some problem...
My AC needs to be @ least 20-21C during a hot day like the 6th MU....
(Parked under the sun for about 30 mins)
and needs about a couple of mins (e.g.5-10mins) before it blows cold air...
Night time @ 10pm, 23c seems ok.
Anyone else have the same problem?
Coz some of the bros here set their AC to 24c even on a hot day like the 6th MU day...

Re: Air Cond Settings...
i set my aircon to 24, but the honest truth is that as the day becomes hotter, the aircon has to work harder in order to produce the same amount of coldness, and because ur aircon is near to the engine, no choice. hahaha

Re: Air Cond Settings...
last sunday my aircon was set to 19 degrees with the fan at full speed. For the journey duration of 20 - 30 mins, the passengers at the back still complain its very hot. By the way, it was in the afternoon with the outside weather around 35 degrees.
Even at the front we do not feel much cool air.
But at night with air con at 23 degrees and fan speed at level 2, it was quite cooling.
Is it normal?
Should i get the insulation for my car's air con?

Re: Air Cond Settings...
if you blast the fan speed, it may not cool down... try setting max 2 on speed and low temperatures.....

Oh.
So setting fan speed at max 2 with lower temp on a hot day works better?

Try then report back..... I was once in a Hyundai.... my colleague blasted the fan thinking that it will cool me down, but only warm air coming, he thought a/c spoilt...... but no, I lowered the speed and immediately cool air came...

Re: Air Cond Settings...
I realised when I blast my fan speed to almost max, even at 19C, the air is not cold. However, on 2 occassions in the morning, when my wife turn to very low fan speed, didn't notice how low she adjusted, at 23C, the air is cold. I don't know whether is it got to do with the fan speed or morning weather?

Have a feeling...
It may be a case of lousy air cond compressor...

Re: Air Cond Settings...
guys i think its normal. i just did my a/c insultaion and guess what? i am still on 20 degree fan 1 at 10pm...
i tot its supposed to help after insultaion but insulation is just to prevent coldness from escaping before it reaches the cabin( at least reduce the lost of coldness in the a/c). this only allows the engine to work lesser to cool down the cabin. FC i am not sure. thus, like me, if u scared of heat u will still turn the temperature down...
2cents worth of opinion though...

Har?
Did insulation on our Cerato Forte, day time set aircon at 23 deg, fan speed at 2 to 3 bars, at nite at 24 deg fan speed at 1 bar. Very cold.
Did insulation with my hubby's sister car, Toyota Altis, she said temp set 25 deg very cold liao til have to close one of the air con vent!

Re: Air Cond Settings...
I also did my insulation and travelled about 200km since both day and night.
Mine is a EX so no climatic air con. My settings usually is 3 notches from coldest, and Fan 1 unless hot day then Fan 2 for a while.

Re: Air Cond Settings...
must check the air circulation type. notice if have habit to off aircon b4 shutting down engine, it will turn to the "draw air from outside" mode, so air con not cold.

I set 24 day/night, both cold....But if u want to cool the back passenger, got to set a bit lower

Re: Air Cond Settings...
I didn't do insulation nor cutting out the warm water piping.
I set at 23 degree day/night. Hot afternoon will increase fan speed to 2 until the car cool down vefore turning down to one again. Very cooling in the cabin, like in Australia. KIA's aircon one of the best in town...no complaint

Re: Air Cond Settings...
Go to any car accessories shop, ask for car aircon insulation wrap ,a thick dark grey foam, less than $10 dollars would suffice. After wrapping the air con piping, you secure the wrap with mini plastic flexi-cuff (buy the shotest type (maybe can get free from Mustafa Shopping centre cashier).

Re: Air Cond Settings...
I haven't done any insulation. Just tried with different fan speed. When blast fan speed, air not cold. The air only turn cold at 2 bars of fan speed. When I swtiched to intake air from outside, slightly not so cold. But sometime can smell the exhaust from other car. Check the car manual and we are advise to draw air from outside as much as possible. I was wondering will I get toxicated from exhaust of other cars? When set to auto, realise the fan speed was slowly reduced to 2 bars. Maybe that's the optimum fan speed for air to turn cold?
Last time my Vios I blast my fan and air con set to half in hot weather is cold enough. Thought of highlighting this issue to C&C during my 1k servicing. But after reading this post, I think it's inherent problem with Forte.

Re: Air Cond Settings...
Hi All,
Throwing my 2 cts in.
Before insulation, I needed to set the temperature to <22 deg before I had cold air. After insulation, I'm doing 24 deg most of the time, 25 deg on a cool/rainy day.
Fan speed does not seem to matter to my ride.
Pay attention to the air vent setting, though. I got snooked a number of times when my Dad accidentally changed the setting to 'Open' (i.e. the green light switch on the bottom right of the aircon controls). On a cool day, driving on an expressway, this is a good way to take in fresh air to replace the stale air in your car.
Usually for city driving, this should be set to 'Closed' (the yellow light switch just above it), else you'll be sucking in exhaust fumes from the car in front of you.
Now, if your aircon is on 'Auto' mode, the default behaviour is for the aircon unit to open the vents after ignition, and keep it open for about 5 mins or so, before closing it automatically. Which is why some bros here may find their aircon not so cold (sucking in all that hot outside air!). This appears to be a safety feature to ensure you don't kena carbon monoxide poisoning or somesuch.
Other interesting 'Auto' mode behaviour:
On a hot day, besides automatically turning up fan speed, the aircon will also switch to blow air from the usual vents and the foot vents as well. Again, this can contribute to 'not-so-cold' perceptions. After a while, it'll switch back to normal again.
