Holux 6210+
any bro get the Holux 6210+ at the comex? any comment after 2 weeks?
i found my response very slow especially during the starting... take abt 15-20mins to detect the GPS?? last week from woodland to bishan... stil unable to locate the GPS.. any ppl have the same feedback?
i also notice the stock battery exhausted very fast if not connected to the charger... or is it bcs the car charger not able to charge it but just allow to used when plug in?

i've bought the holux 62 during the PC show in june. The response time to detect the GPS varies, sometime fast sometime slow. Your experience is the same as me initially esp when you on the GPS in MSCP and once you got out of the MSCP, its take 15-20mins to detect the GPS. If you start the GPS in the open, its quite fast.
That why i also on the GPS only when i out in the open. If still quite slow, i just restart it again.
Btw the battery life is quite crappy. Nevertheless, i assume you are using the cigarette socket charger. So the short battery storage shouldn't be much of a problem.

Re: Holux 6210+
I m not sure whether this has to do with the program in the ROM. I bought Shinco 4380BEE about 6 mths ago, which had the same problem as u guys..... not able to detect GPS and system seems to "han"..... then I brought it down to the service centre... the technician updated the ROM (there was a bug in the program). Now it is working well.... takes about 30secs to detect GPS location.
I suggest u speak to the service centre ppl. and let them check.

Yes, try to do it in open ground and should not have any shelter blocking. GPS need communicate to satellite.

Re: Holux 6210+
in fact i do try at open space, that day bring down from car at melaka, tot to use to guide me to some POI.. but too bad... unable to locate the satellite when restart... i guess the battery will also affect the satellite detection, as the battery seems low after i disconet from the cigrate charger
i try to start at my home... seems also unable to locate the satellite.. may b really got to bring down to service centre??

If unable to detect GPS, just park your car in the open, it should get GPS signal very quickly. If your car is moving, even if in open space, it will take a long time to detect GPS.

Is your Holux using SLA mapking or Papago? I bought mine ard April, and was given SLA mapking. Everything was fine till one day when i had to wait 10-30mins to search for GPS. Sometimes cant even detect even in open area.I give a call to EASTGEAR, and was told to bring down the unit to upgrade. They help me chg to PAPAGO map, update the ROM and no problem in detecting the GPS liao... They told me in layman terms, SLA mapking like change "channel" liao so their map will have problem in detecting GPS despite your unit in config setting (showing the world map) able to detect..

Re: Holux 6210+
I have a shinco and I had similar problem too, until I updated the firmware myself. Now, it can get the GPS signals within seconds.
Below shows the copy paste of a statement from Mapking website:
"Due to the recent repositioning of GPS, GM-3512/ GM-4330BEE/ SLIM-4380BEE/ GM-7800BEE encountered difficulty to receive GPS signals. Shinco has reprogrammed their systems to acquire a faster GPS fix speed. "
I guess for Holux owners, they should do the same, i.e. update the firmware.

Re: Holux 6210+
I bought some IT stuffs at Comex. It was also faulty. At the end, time and money wasted just to get the replacement.
Will think twice next time when buying things during Comex, PC Show, IT Show or SITEX.
