Sad..Accident at JB Empty Sad..Accident at JB

Post by siewsphone 12th March 2010, 1:58 am

I involved an accident at JB just now, bumper and rim get scratched. Just get my car for 1 month only, and just done the CS-II last week.

The JB TP said is my fault, so should I claim my own insurance or should I pay the fix my own? Really very sad and no mood now.

if I not wrong, claim insurance have to pay excess before they pay the rest of the repair bill right? if can repair for $600, then no point claiming. That was what I was thinking as I looked at the insurance renewal document.

extracted from gia...
"
Should you, as a vehicle owner, fail to report to your insurers within 24 hours of the accident, then you may find yourself prejudiced. That is, your insurers will have the right to reject your claim or to claim from you any sums paid by them for a third party claim made against you or your driver. This may result in a loss of your No Claim Discount when you review your policy next.

eh... so serious?.. heh are you okay?..

for a moment there, you only talk about bumper, sounds like small case.

Such a big case, you will want to report to your insurance EVEN if you don't claim.

Bearing in mind, that things got to this stage, the other guy can sabo you and sue you for injury (yes, i know he punch you), but he can twist and turn. When that happens, your insurance won't cover you against 3rd party claims coz you never report.

So, its better that you report.

hope u get well.!

Just for info. If you have an accident with Malaysia car, most likely you can only claim your own insurance. Meaning next year your premium will "Wow" and no more NCD.

I know we cannot claim against them or more likely very difficult to claim against them. Therefore, our insurer will say cannot calim against them and eat into your own claim. Similar, our insurer can also choose to ignore their claim... I do not know their stand.

Let say, if they only knew your car number, how are they able to claim against you without knowing who is your insurer and any of your details?

Nevermind then... Anyway, it should not cost much for the repair. Just have to be more proactive in searching for quotes in your insurance renewal to get the best deal.

I know how you feel, it hurts as you just bought your car. But, it's very minor scratches only on the bumper and no dent. After a while, you will get over with it. The rims will get more scratches further or sooner as you drive.

I'm driving a Cerato for 4 years already. When it was brand new, I was devastated by the first deep scratch on the car door. Now, I'm couldn't even be bothered by any scratches at all on its exterior unless the metal parts are exposed or dented. What's more important is look after the main engine components of your car by regular servicing and in return it will serve you well.

Trust me, time will heal the pain. If I were you, I would just buy some touch up paint from LK and cover it over.

After I got enough rest, I decided to DIY repairing the cosmetic problem. I think it is very hard to maintain a scratch-less car for everyday usage. Like one of the brothers said, exterior is for public only interior is for your own. I might spend those extra money for ICE and others stuffs.

You can report just in case the other party go out of the way just to claim against you all the way from malaysia. For your own damages, you have to assess if you wish to claim or not on the cost like car dmgs and medical cost invovled.

When you report, you can choose to claim or not to claim your own damages. But the reporting is just to protect you. i.e if someone comes up with a claim against you and cost comes up to few k and because you did not report the claims to the insurer, the few K is to be borned by yourself and your ncd will still be affected. Of course if no one claims against you then no problem at all but do not take people's words for it.

A few bros have been in situations where the other party come back and claim against them though they mentioned that it was their fault previously.
