Based on this week promotion, I believe it should be the case...

Re: COE going up? or down?
heard from my sales advisor that this round of COE for march is moved from 1st week of march, to 2nd week of march. so, it should be a 2 weeks bid.

Re: COE going up? or down?
I'm only planning to book my ride come April/May... Hope prices would have dropped or stabilised (ie, gone back down) by then! Being hopeful! =)

Re: COE going up? or down?
Preferably get before mid april, as I heard COE quota may reduce by 15% from May 10 - April 11

Re: COE going up? or down?
if you read the many articles written recently by the car experts, including the motor association guys.
reading between the lines has two main points.
1) Our fleet is already very young.
2) Quota is dropping.
Of course, depending on "which person" you listen to:
They will either say Quota drop = higher COE $$
or Quota drop = no diff/ lower COE $$, coz there are no buyers of new car.
and at the end of the day....
IMHO - last time, I try to time COE etc, now after owning a few cars. I realise myself, and most other people. buy car coz at that moment you feel like it, plus you have the money.
so, guessing is really just a fun activity, at the end of the day, if you plan to buy, you still buy one. haha..

I do agree with you.
My second car...this koup is also not affected by COE.
Of course, I have been telling friends that "wah COE so high...cannot buy car" but that is just to get them off my back.
Ultimately, I still got a new car despite rising COE prices. And so yups, I too buy cars cos I feel like it and have the money...not timing my purchase of the car due to COE.

For all forte and koup drivers, usually how many bids before you secure your COE? Any first time successfully bidders?

Re: COE going up? or down?
i booked last week when there was a promo. 2K down and free BK. Since the price is already so low and margin so low i think my SE will not bid high the first time. So if COE continues to "rocket" most likely i will miss next wednesday bidding!

i am confident you will get one , bec why bother to launch such offer if there is little chance of getting business hence wasting everyones time and effort
some more the KIA brand is not so established as its japanese counterpart, and now it is also the best time to build up the brand name since the japanese has many recalls
Dont forget, when you guy their car ..chances are that yo uwill take up their after sales service for as long as you own the car

I think the SE has no control over the bidding when you are not opting for the guarantee COE. It is done by another group of ppl in the coy. Of course, first time, they will try to bid low in order to maximize their profits.

Jialat liao loh. Like that most likely i can't get the car in the first bid liao. But die die i will not top up for guaranteed COE because i was told by my SE that when u top up is not just the 2k but it also the outstanding of the car price compared to the price you book at that time. Sianz

Re: COE going up? or down?
Hi BoonBoom,
It is quite expected, the profit margin for this car is ready so low, yet they lower the price by 2k & throw in free bodykit (worth 1.2k)... Something fishy i think.
I heard from a friend that most prob CNC will ask the customers to top up if the COE shoot upwards... Better pray hard that the next COE Bidding...

Re: COE going up? or down?
I still remember I missed my COE bid by only $100. Call up my SE and she said cannot help also as they bid the COE within a certain range based on the price then. It was their 2nd bid then. On the 3rd bid, they bidded just slightly higher than the 2nd time. I got the COE this time as the COE went down by $2k. Of course, C&C has to pay lesser for my COE, i.e. they profit the 2k and I took home a cheaper value COE.

D day tomorrow .. this is going to be fun but i am sure the result would be boring , as usual if the demand is high , probably 2 k more , if not no change probably a few hundred diff

Re: COE going up? or down?
So whats the update on COE?
Should be able to get it first time right
Anyway since the price was lowered by 2k and free bodykit, what is the bank interest now?

Re: COE going up? or down?
Just my 2cents on the COE. It will continue to go up for a few more weeks due to the cut in the number of COE to be given out. Don't think it will come down in the near future.

Re: COE going up? or down?
Base on the number of new cars compared to scrap cars.
Will definately go up, and also publish on the Papers for 1.6L & below cars will be the biggest hit with 30-35% reduction in COE and estimate 30K-35K within the month of Apr to Sep.
Look at the 90s... COE might be close to $40K in the future.
In the near future to get COE below 15K to 20K is quite impossible, just my 2 cents worth.

Re: COE going up? or down?
When the public transport system is fully up and running (e.g. downtown line, circle line), the Government would increase its push towards public transport and COE would likely increase (remember the days when a 1.6L corolla cost $110k?).
Land is scarce in Singapore and as our population increase, public transport will be deemed to be a better mode of transport. An example of a city close to us is Hong Kong. Most people rely on train for transportation. Cars are for the very rich only. Parking in Hong Kong cost an average of S$8 per hour.

Re: COE going up? or down?
Yeap, COE definitely going up.
See the latest pricing for Kia's cars.
http://www.groupmproduction.com/KIA/pricelist_latest.pdf
All went up by at least $4k - 5k.
Most probably to cater for the rising COE.
