Saddness: dream shattered Empty Saddness: dream shattered

Post by Guardian 29th November 2009, 12:03 pm

I saw my dream car that is the Kia forte koup and fell in lve in first sight. I told myself I will save up for this car. Very determined that i will clear up my current car loan of 20k.
Now the koup had went up to $64999 and this means I need to save more.
I am not holding a high pay job and that's means my dream is shattered.

Evetytime I look at foup picture, my heart hurts and this seems an impossible wish to own this car.

Why do c&c raise the price so much?
It is better to make it more affortable rather and more people will
buy instead of earning that few $$$$ which makes people think
twice because of the price.

C&c - make this ride MORE AFFORTABLE to get the sales of people like me.

I did have this car craving before. Imagine I had test drive the koup three times and
went to showroom more than ten times just to see the car.

I sm sure I am able to drive this car till full loan repayment

The Koup is actually quite affordable for what it offers. C&C is a public listed co and exists solely to make profits. Nothing wrong wif that. If one is not earning much and a rise of $1k or $2k becomes a deal breaker, it's a good reality check that perhaps it's time to re-evaluate one's priorities. Or save more and wait for a 2nd hand one to appear.

No offence, but this is normal. When the Forte was first launched in sg the prices are about 10k lower. So far those who waited paid for the higher price also. Nothing to do with luck. Pure demand and supply. I was unable to buy the Forte at the low price in april and my friend did becos he did not own a car because of the same situation as you but managed to rid my old ride at Sept 5 months after the launch and price was about 8k difference when it was launched in march.
My point is you are not the only one, my friend who bought in april told me no point to buy the forte as the price increased 8k from where he first booked the car, but i still buy.. why? cos i like the car.

You can wait but i think it will not go back to launch price, that is why i just buy the forte at 8k higher than launch and so did many others.

actually i think that cnc raised the price because they cannot meet the demand

among all the cars i considered while buying, honda miti and hyundai all can deliver the car within 2 - 3 weeks. kia is the only 2 that told me within 3 months

probably if they got ready stock like the other brands, the car might be priced cheaper

also don't forget COE is always cheaper during the months of march - july
so wait till then and check out the prices again ba

Yah but also have to be practical, we cannot always be comparing the launch prices. If launch prices and later prices are the same, it will really not make sense already. Saddness: dream shattered Icon_lol

Guardian, if u r comparing with launch price and a $5k diff shatters ur dream, my guess is u might never own it.

Y compare to launch price when it will always be lower than future price. I would not say it will be the lowest price as we will never noe. But the launch price will definitely by a very very low price.

U shud instead compare to the market value of a coupe. Relative to Honda Civic coupe, Koup is way too cheap. Relative to Daihatsu Copen, Koup is in many ways more superior. Relative to Hyundai Tuscani, it looks more stylo and gives better value for money.

But if u still want to get it at <$65k, can wait and see if next year price will drop a few K, but in my view it will almost be unlikely to drop to <$60k. Y? bcuz like the Forte sedans, they will keep improving the features so no reason for them to drop the price to compete with others.

Who noes maybe in the future Koup will come with integrated GPS and reverse cam but at the price of near $70k (for 1.6A)? Also, the auto Koups we have now are of 4-speed, they might bring in 5-speed in the future.

C&c - make this ride MORE AFFORTABLE to get the sales of people like me.

if its ur dream car and u really want it so badly, just get it
but be prepared to deal with consequence of not having enough $

unlikely price of car will go down.. unless coe drops to late 08 - early 09 region
some now SE charging higher for add-ons (e.g red leather seats) and less freebies given
one way to counter this is to take more loan and demand more freebies
btw free 3yr servicing also comes at a drawback of 2.49% int for loan + min. 7yr loan

c n c has prob meet their initial target of koup sales, thus now looking at increasing their profits by increasing price of car (nothing much to lose except more profit per sale)

Back to this, car prices are always moving up and down and like many here said, it is only natural that the prices go up after the launch then down.

the reason why we are so interested in the price of the car is because we own it
obviously as owners we'll want our assets to have as high a value as possible

from your reply i get the feeling that you are too rich for a koup, 5k is too small a sum for you to even be bothered about...

For those who bought in Feb 09, now is about 13k difference.

Most of us (including me) take loan to buy a car. So if we want to consider it as an asset, it is fine. It is just words play.

In the end, it is how much you can afford and living within means.
